When a therapist and a patient click, the therapist becomes a great teacher and the patient a great student. Clearly, your therapist taught you very well. I like that you gave him a lot of credit.

Thanks David. He was remarkable and deserves that and more. My way of keeping his memory and wisdom alive.

I love the bit about modeling new behaviors. It’s the healthiest approach for us as individuals–and often, it’s more inspiring to our partner than nudging them to change their minds or alter their own behavior.

Great advice! I also had a great counselor many years ago in my early twenties. He changed my life, in a good way 💜

Oh Kim, I can see the love of my life in his work chair, doing the doing. Thank you for the beautiful, happy memory. Neil was, without a word of a lie, one of a kind in the most wonderful way. Love Annie xo

Great advice, Kim. It's so funny; looking back, when I've had partners who've been in therapy, it never dawned on me to ask them about it in a what-did-you-talk-about kind of way. They would usually bring something up (a revelation of sorts). Having done therapy, I kind of knew the drill. I will admit I'm suspicious of anyone who wouldn't want to go to therapy, especially when asked to go together. Bit of a flag (pick your color). Then again, I'm from LA. LOL. xo

It's remarkable how many people I know who are only discovering therapy and counselling much later in life. And yes, it's definitely a colourful flag if they say no, however, in this case, Growing and Worried has been married for a few decades. So, it's more a matter of teaching an old dog new tricks. Eventually, I find they come around. Especially if they want to stay married!😂😂

Angst is contagious and if a counselor can help one person with theirs, the added bonus is the benefit to the partner.. Regarding counselors, connection is a beautiful thing.
